Psalm 46:1 God is our place of safety. He gives us strength.
Sometimes our lives become uncertain. Job changes, marriage problems, or issues with our children have us constantly stressing. I know I am prone to giving into exhaustion and fear of the unknown more often that I’d like to admit! It can definitely swallow us up. Stress and worry sap your energy and happiness.
Isn’t it great to know God has our back? He gives us strength. It’s so easy to think to ourselves, ‘God has bigger things to worry about than my problems. I’ll just deal with them myself’. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. God wants a relationship with you. He wants to be that friend you vent to. He already knows what challenges you’re facing, but He longs for you to trust Him enough to go to Him, no matter how small the problem may be.
Try to remind yourself today that no problem is too big or too small for God. Give Him the pleasure of knowing your heart. Picture God as a father who wants a relationship with his daughter. Isn’t that who God is? Of course He wants a relationship with His children. Yes, even you, dear heart!
Think About It:
- For those of you with children, I want you to picture your child for me. If you don’t have children, I want you to imagine what you would feel for your son or daughter. Now imagine your daughter comes home from school and she seems bothered. You ask her what’s wrong and her response is ‘It’s nothing. It’s not a big deal and I don’t want to talk about it’. How would that make you feel? Could any problem your child faces be too small for you to worry about?
- Now, consider that God IS your Father. He created you and is just as much your Father as you are mother to your children. How do you think He feels when you reject Him and don’t let Him into your heart and mind? Even though it’s not usually intentional, try today to let God in on the little things Talk with Him as you would a friend.
- After the day is over, come back and think about how the change of perspective benefited you and how you feel after sharing small, silly details with Him. Do you feel closer to Him?
