Forgiveness: What Does the Bible Say About Forgiveness?

Matthew 6:14-15  For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

The basic point of this post is that if you want forgiveness from our Father, you’re going to have to give it to others; whether you think they deserve it or not.  This is a truly difficult concept and I’ve recently had my eyes opened into what forgiveness actually is and I’d like to share that with you.

Accept the Gift of Salvation


Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith.  And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.

This is a verse I see a lot of people struggle with.  The thought that there is nothing we can do to ensure our salvation is a scary one.  But it also can be a very humbling and comforting thought.

If we dissect this verse a bit, we find that through our faith we are saved by God’s grace.  Paul tells us this grace comes to us, not because of anything we did or didn’t do, but it is a gift from God.  Have you ever thought that you don’t deserve this gift?  I struggled with this for a long time.
