The Best Marriage Advice I Ever Received

1 Peter 3:1-2  Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives, when they see your respectful and pure conduct.

I have read over this verse countless times.  However, when your marriage is struggling, or when your husband isn’t behaving the way you wish he would, it’s hard to get a straight thought in your head!  So, turning to this verse in my times of marital ‘non-bliss’, was not my first inclination.  In fact, my first instinct was to beat HIM into submission with maybe a frying pan or a wooden spoon!  I mean, after all, HE is the one not behaving as he should, and HE is the one who has a problem, NOT ME!  Well, this verse was the beginning of my introduction to humility.

My Husband Isn’t Making Me Happy

Ephesians 4:2-3: “With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”

I’ve heard so many women say this to me. ‘He just doesn’t make me happy anymore’.  Know first that I sympathize with you, and I have felt this way on several occasions. And it’s a devastating feeling.  But also know, that it is not your husband’s job to make you happy.

Happiness comes from within you. It is not something someone else is required to give you on a daily basis. I am here to tell you, true happiness can only be found in a strong relationship with the Father.

Handling Distractions

1 Corinthians 7:35

I say this for your own benefit, not to lay any restraint upon you, but to promote good order and to secure your undivided devotion to the Lord.

This life sure gets busy, doesn’t it?  It’s so easy to get wrapped up in all our obligations and get distracted from our relationship with God.  If this happens to you, I assure you that you are not alone!

This One’s For the Moms!

Proverbs 31:25-30  Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

I could have put all of Proverbs 31 in this post, but that would get a bit lengthy.  But, if you get a chance, please head to your Bible and read it in its entirety.  It’s truly worth it.  Do you ever feel like you work so hard to take care of your family and no one even notices?  When you feel that way, remember God sees all you are doing.

Giving God Leftovers

Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Now, I’ll admit.  I’m a mom and a wife, among many other roles, so I love leftovers!  But when it comes to our incredible God, I certainly don’t want to give Him any leftovers!

The Joy of Housekeeping?

Philippians 2:14  Do all things without grumbling or disputing.

Do you EVER look like this when you’re cleaning house?  Yeah, me either.  Typically, I’m running around in sweats with a scowl on my face wondering why these people can’t just pick up after themselves!  The endless battle of cooking, washing dishes, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing clothes, folding clothes, cleaning the toilet, and so many other tasks, gets to be more than a little frustrating at times.

Her Husband’s Helper

Genesis 2:18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”

Sometimes this verse speaks to me in different ways, depending on what I’m going through at the time. However, I always feel amazed at the fact that God saw an emptiness in man’s life and designed us to fill that space. We were made to be helpers, which is straight from God’s mouth. What does that mean? The Hebrew word ezer means helper and is also used to describe God as our helper in Psalm 115:9-11. Would we ever think of God as serving us because he is our ezer? Of course not. Because He is our helper; He is our support system and our partner.

Introduction – Hello, Ladies!

Women are incredible creatures – there’s no doubt about that! We are constantly working to keep our homes, families, and even workplaces in order.

I decided to start this blog because I know firsthand how women undervalue themselves and how we struggle balancing being a Christian woman, a wife, a mother, an employee, a friend, a neighbor, a sister, a daughter, and many more roles!

It’s time we cut ourselves some slack and prioritize our time with God. I hope and pray that this blog will help you to create balance in your life, lift your spirits, give you hope, and grow your relationship with our Lord.

God Bless You and Yours,

Stephanie
